Championship Show 2005

The British
Bulldog Club held a successful championship show at Nantwich. My thanks to the
officers and committee of the club for inviting me to judge, and the sporting
bulldoggers for the way they accepted my decisions. The light eyes which have
plagued the breed in the past few years are not completely gone but certainly
not as plentiful as they were. The size of minor puppy dogs has been a complaint
for more than 30 years to my knowledge but some things never change. Almost all
the exhibits had the correct large and wide nostrils and in a venue which was
very warm later in the day there were no dogs showing any signs of being
affected by the conditions. Perhaps the detractors of the breed attend different
shows to me.

PD (5. 2)1.Short & Taylor Barkingbull Adonis f/w 9 months head is developing nicely dark eye broad open nostrils, adequate bone, well ribbed moved very well.
2.Carberry Outdoors Grand Master r/w 10 months another promising youngster at the moment I prefer the more advanced head of 1, has dark eye neat well carried ears broad wide open nostrils.

JD (9. 3) Davis Mystyle Rolex Ocobo liked him as a puppy and is maturing nicely, well presented in super condition, pleasing head strong well divided skull, enough wrinkle, correct ear placement and carriage, body still maturing but has correct body shape and topline, well off for bone, moved well
2.Martin Calibra Kryptonite another promising youngster not long out of puppy, liked his head, good length from eye to ear, good wide underjaw with correct turn up, goods depth of chest, brisket, and well off for bone, maturity should tighten him up all round, another one to watch

Nov (7.2)D 1.Roberts Esculsham Red Ferdindand r/w heavyweight won this class on his undoubted head qualities, well balanced, good skull well broken with fine wrinkle, dark eye, neat ears, wide underjaw well boned, powerful compact body
2.Tearle Terlingfair Record f/w young man with a lot to like, first appearance creates a good impression with nice front, good bone, pleasing head and well broken skull

Und Grad D (3.1) 1. Potts Careless Harry w/ticked liked his well broken skull, neat ears darkest of eye, compact powerful body moved very well.

Dobson Red Wonder at Bulldurham have admired him from the ringside but
disappointed today, very pleasing head qualities, powerful body although
slightly longer cast than 1, not moving like he can do today.
Postgraduate Dog
PGD (11.4)1. Marlow Totbull Polite Pirate r/w very strong headed boy, but no coarseness, good skull well wrinkled , well placed ears, large nose open nostrils, good layback, wide underjaw. Good front and shoulders, good topline, well boned moved well.

LD (19.5) What a super class, unfortunately some lovely dogs went cardless, but such is life 1.Rogers Belushi DMX r/w lovely type of dog wherever you look he is correct, will watch his future career with interest.. good length of skull, darkest of eyes well placed, head carried on good neck set well into shoulder, good body shape good topline and tailset moved well.
2.Norris Jumano Johnny Be Good r/w love this dogs head. Lovely skull well divided by correct furrow, sufficient work without being overdone, dark eye, wide underjaw with correct sweep, good front, well boned down to strong pasterns strong body.

OD (9.1)1. Davis Ch Mystyle Amos Ocobo w/r lovely balanced dog, quality whichever way you look. Well divided finely wrinkled skull of ample proportion, good foreface, well turned underjaw, small fine ears, good front, correct tacked on shoulders, well boned, strong pasterns, lovely tight feet, correct pear shaped body, light well angulated hindquarters, moved and presented well CC BIS BOB.
2. Dellar Ch Meriveen Touch of Frost super type, exceptionally well balanced standard size dog, proof that size is not essential to produce that keep off expression, good head, skull well broken, underjaw with upsweep dark eyes, neat ears, good bone, good rib correct topline moved well. RCC

Handley Oakmel Simply the Best at Haddaway w.r pied. super young lady and one I would like to take home, looks good in outline and does not disappoint on closer examination, lovely head correct sour expression, good length from eye to ear, good underjaw, short coupled, roached topline moved well BP

youngster, feminine head, fine ears, good pigment dark eye, big ribs light
hindquarters moved well.

JB (20. 10) 1.Saxon Bagibelli Bittersweet r/b very promising, feminine , of good type, good length of skull which is well divided, good layback, lovely front well boned right down to correct feet, good rib and topline moved well.
2.Hallet Magicfeet I’m Loving It good type, slightly larger than 1 but still feminine, very pleasing head qualities, good front, strong well ribbed body moved well.

PG B (10.3) 1.Booth Hobtop Brandy Snap br/w well balanced bitch of good size, good well shaped head , set on good neck flowing into powerful shoulders , good topline. Light hindquarters, moved well enough in her class but unfortunately not at her best in the challenge,
2.Norris Jumano Jumping Star slightly larger size with strong head which has a pleasing expression, good front well boned down to good feet, pear shaped body , roach back good tailset moved well.

LB (10.3) 1.Robertson & Ferguson Mellafella Born to Perform r lovely lady of quality, very pleasing head and expression, super length from ear to the darkest of eyes, neat ears, broad well swept underjaw, good front well boned to good feet and pasterns, deep chest tucked up to light hindquarters , well presented moved well.
2. Dellar Merriveen Goodness Me w lovely standard size, well handled bitch, with all the qualities required of a top class specimen of the breed, well balanced correct head properties compact body with topline light hindquarters moved well.

2.Davis Ch Mystyle All That Jazz Ocobo w another beautifully presented very well balanced quality lady ,rather like a feminine version of her litter brother the dog CC winner, good feminine head, good expression , short powerful body moved well RCC
