THE  BRITISH  BULLDOG  CLUB

Welcome to the 2006 Autumn British Bulldog Club Review.

We had a lovely Puppy Competition and Open show. We are so fortunate in the venue at Tollerton which, being high had lovely views over Nottinghamshire.  The weather glorious with a reasonable 23°C, and a cooling breeze – this was a drop of 10°C on the previous couple of days.  All the bulldogs coped really well with no distress – the health of our lovely breed seems to be constantly improving.

Our Gold Medal Puppy Competition Judges , Les Thorpe, Brenda Price and Carole Newman are all International Championship Show judges and they found their four class winners Rowendale Macintosh, Belushi Lady Angelina, Mellowmood Full Monty (Reserve) and the British Bulldog Club Puppy of the Year is Mellowmood Iron Lady.

A presentation of a cut crystal decanter was made to Les and Dorrie Thorpe to thank them for service to the Club.  Les had been the Secretary for many years, guiding the club through some difficult years, and the Centenary celebrations, and lately he was our President.  They have left the club in a financially strong position, with a dedicated committee.  We owe a great dept of gratitude to both Les and Dorrie and I am delighted they are now Honorary Life Members.

The Open Show was judged by Pauline Furber, and again, we had a super entry and Pauline found her Best In Show with Dr Nattrass’s Bonifacio Prestigeux.

You will find that many breeders are now advertising on the club website.  The cost of this is £10.00 per page for a year; if you have three pages, the fourth is free, and there is a free of charge link from your advertising page to your personal website.  Incredibly we have had nearly 21,000 hits in less than 6 months.  What tremendous value this represents.  People from across the globe are accessing our site.  If you would like to advertise on the British Bulldog Club site, your advertisement can be emailed to me at eileenaldridge@hotmail.com, and you can pay through PayPal, alternatively you can send hard copy of your advertisement to me either with your entry or separately to Shepherds Bush Farm, Main Road, Long Bennington, Newark, Notts NG23 5EB, together with a cheque made out to British Bulldog Club.

Another innovation is Clubware – we now have a range of Polos, Sweatshirts and Tshirts sporting a beautiful Bulldog motif, as well as bone china mugs.  These will be available at our show at Nantwich Civic Hall on 19th November.  Do try to come.  This is always a great show with a super atmosphere.  Everybody is welcome, so if you just want to watch and see some of the best Bulldogs in the country make this a date.

Look forward to seeing you in November.

 With very best wishes
