THE BRITISH BULLDOG CLUB

 

 

 

B Judges List (Breed Specialist)

1. To have a minimum of five years experience owing and exhibiting Bulldogs.

2. To have judged a minimum of nine classes in the breed at Open or Championship Shows without Challenge Certificates or Breed Limit Shows (Kennel Club Licenced events).

3. To have judged a minimum of twenty seven dogs in the breed at Open or Championship Shows without Challenge Certificates or Breed Limit Shows (Kennel Club Licenced events).

4. To have attended at least one Bulldog Judging Seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed any examination and/or assessment set.

5. To have the support of the Bulldog Breed Council.

B Judges List (Non Breed Specialist)

1. To have a minimum of five years judging experience in any one breed.

2. To have judged a minimum of twenty one classes of Bulldogs at Open or Championship Shows without Challenge Certificates or Breed Limit Shows (Kennel Club Licenced events).

3. To have judged a minimum of sixty three Bulldogs.

4. Have the support of the Bulldog Breed Council.

C Judges List (Breed Specialist and Non Breed Specialist)

To have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of the Bulldog Breed Council.

A Judge should have awarded at least three sets of C.C’s at Championship shows before being selected to judge the British Bulldog Club Championship Show.

The criteria for the eligibility of judges for the various judging lists of the British Bulldog Club will be the same as the Bulldog Breed Council’s recommendations.

Rule 18

Honorary Life Members

The committee may elect as an honorary life member of the Club:

a. Any well known breeder or exhibitor of bulldogs residing abroad.

b. Any well known breeder or exhibitor of bulldogs residing in the UK who has retired from the fancy,

c. Any person who has rendered distinguished services to the Club.

There shall be a maximum of ten Honorary Life Members on the list at the same time.

   

THE BRITISH BULLDOG CLUB

RULES

Rule 1

The objectives of the club shall be:-

(a) To promote and encourage the breeding of Bulldogs.

(b) To give prizes at, to support and hold exhibitions of Bulldogs.

Rule 2

The Officers and Committee

(a) The Club shall consist of President, Chairperson, Five Vice-Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer and a Committee of twelve elected members.

(b) The same person may hold the Offices of Secretary and Treasurer.

(c) The Officers shall retire annually, but shall be eligible for re-election.

(d) In the event of any Officer, for any reason, ceasing to hold office during the year, the Committee may fill such a vacancy, until the next annual election of officers.

No person, whilst an undischarged bankrupt may serve on the Committee of, or hold office or appointment within a K.C. registered society.

Rule 3

The Committee of Management

(a) The affairs of the Club shall be managed by the Officers and a Committee of twelve members, six of whom shall retire annually, but shall be eligible for re-election.

(b) Meetings of the Committee shall be held as often as is deemed necessary, but at least every six months.

(c) A quorum for Committee meetings shall be five, the Chairperson having a casting vote in the event of a tie.

(d) All the Officers and Committee will be elected by members attending the A.G.M. by a majority vote.

(e) If a member, unable to attend the A.G.M. expresses their willingness to serve as an officer or on the Committee, the Secretary shall inform the meeting before the elections commence.

(f) The officers and committee members of the Club shall not incur any personal liability for duties properly carried out on behalf of the Club and any officer or committee member so acting shall be entitled to be indemnified from Club assets.

(g) If any committee member or officer (i.e. President, Vice-President, Chairperson, Secretary or Treasurer) misses three consecutive meetings, except in exceptional circumstances as deemed by the committee, they are deemed as having no further intention of serving on the committee

Rule 4

Election of Members

(a) Each candidate for membership should be proposed and seconded by members of the Club. Membership, if approved, shall be deemed to commence on the date of the payment of the annual subscription to the secretary.

(b) The annual subscription payable by members for the year from 1st of January to the 31st December shall be decided by the committee and notified to the Kennel Club.

(c) Acquiescence in rules. As the payment of his/her subscription entitles a member to enjoy every benefit of the Club, so it shall distinctly imply his or her submission to these rules and to any regulation or bye-law made by the Committee in conformity with these rules.

(d) Should any question not provided for in these rules arise in the management of the Club’s affairs, the Committee shall deal the same, or they may, at their discretion, submit the same, with a recommendation thereon to a meeting of the members of the Club for decision. The decision of such a meeting will be final, except as regards the expulsion of a member.

(e) On the election of a member, the Secretary will inform him/her immediately of the fact and supply a free copy of these rules.

(f) The Secretary will record the minutes of all the meetings of the members or of the committee and will end copies to each Committee member ten days prior to the next meeting of the members or of the Committee, as the case may be,

(g) The secretary shall perform such other duties as are required by these rules or by any other resolution of the Committee.

4. To have judged a minimum of sixty five classes in the breed at Open

Shows, Championship Shows without Challenge Certificates, or Breed

Limit Shows (at Kennel Club Licenced events).

5. To have judged a minimum of two hundred dogs in the breed at Open Shows,

Championship Shows without Challenge Certificates, or Breed Limit Shows (at

Kennel Club Licenced Events)

6. To have attended a Seminar given by a Kennel Club accredited Trainer and

passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging

Procedures.

7. To have attended a Seminar given by a Kennel Club accredited Trainer on

Conformation and Movement.

8. To have attended at least one Bulldog Judging Seminar run in accordance with

the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed any examination

and/or assessment set.

9. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three Bulldogs when they obtained

their first entry in The Kennel Club Studbook.

10. To have stewarded for twelve shows.

A3 Judges List (Non Breed Specialist)

1. A minimum of seven years judging experience in any one breed (to include five years in Bulldogs).

2. Have the support of the Bulldog Breed Council.

3. To have nudged at least two Bulldog Club Breed Open Shows licenced in the United Kingdom.

4. To have judged a minimum of fifty classes in the breed at Open Shows, Championship Shows without Challenge Certificates, or breed Limit Shows (at Kennel Club licenced events).

5. To have judged a minimum of two hundred dogs in the breed Open Shows, Championship Shows without Challenge Certificates, or breed Limit Shows (at Kennel Club licenced events).

6. To have awarded Challenge Certificates in at least one other breed.

7. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs of any breed when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book.

8. To have attended at least one Bulldog Judging Seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed any examination and/or assessment set.

9. To have stewarded for twelve shows.

10. Have the support of the Bulldog Breed Council.

Rule 14

Annual Returns to the Kennel Club

The Officers acknowledge that during the month of January the Secretary for the continuation of registration will forward each year maintenance of the title fee to the Kennel Club.

By the 31st July each year other returns as stipulated by the Kennel Club regulations for registration and maintenance of Title of Societies and Breed Councils and Affiliation of Agricultural Societies and Municipal Authorities be forwarded to the Kennel Club.

The Officers also acknowledge their duty to inform the Kennel Club of any change of Secretary of the Club which may occur in the course of the year.

Rule 15

Kennel Club Final Court of Appeal

The Kennel Club shell be the final court of appeal in all matters of dispute.

Rule 16

The Club shall not join any federation of societies or clubs.

Rule 17

Breed Society

Registered Breed Societies must produce a list of judges each year which must be submitted to the Kennel Club as part of the annual returns.

JUDGES LISTS CRITERIA’S

(Amended June 2004)

A1 Judges List (Breed Specialist and Non Breed Specialist)

1. Persons who have been previously approved by the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in the breed and have completed their first appointment.

2. Have the support of the Bulldog Club Breed Council.

 

A2 Judges List (Breed Specialist and Non Breed Specialist)

1. Persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with the Kennel Club requirements and accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list.

2. Have the support of the Bulldog Breed Council.

 

A3 Judges List (Breed Specialist)

1. A minimum of seven (7) years judging experience in the breed.

2. To have judged a minimum of three (3) Breed Club Open Show with a minimum five year period between the first and last.

3. One of these Breed Club shows to be outside a one hundred miles radius of the candidates residence.

Rule 5

List of Members.

(a) The Club must make a list of all members and their addresses available for inspection if so requested by members of the Club or by the Kennel Club.

(b) All notices posted to a member to the last registered address shall be held as duly given on the third day following that on which they were posted.

(c) No member will be allowed to take part in any meeting or proceeding of the Club or any of its Committees, or to receive any benefit therefrom, until any subscription and/or other sums owing to the Club have been paid.

(d) A member may resign membership at any time by giving written notice to the Secretary, but such a member will be liable for the subscription to the Club for the year in which such notice was given.

(e) In the case of two persons owning or breeding Bulldogs in partnership, the members of such a partnership may, after election in the usual course, be admitted to the Club on payment of a joint subscription which will entitle both members to vote at any meeting or on any question, and both members, if so elected could hold office or be on the Committee at the same time.

Rule 6

Voting Rights

(a) Each member will be entitled to one vote immediately upon acceptance of membership.

(b) Postal votes and proxy votes are not allowed.

(c) Voting shall be by secret ballot or show of hands, as decided by the majority at the meeting.

(d) Joint memberships have one vote each.

 

Rule 7

Club Property

(a) The property of the Club will be vested with the Committee. In the event of the Club ceasing to exist, a general meeting will be called to decide the disposal of the Club’s assets and the outcome of the meeting notified to the Kennel Club. In addition a final statement of the accounts and a record of the disposal of assets to be submitted to the Kennel Club within six months. The Officers and Committee of the Club will be held responsible for the proper winding up of the Club.

(b) The trophies and stock of special prizes to be in the joint custody of the Treasurer and Secretary who may deposit the same with any bank or firm of silversmiths for safe keeping.

(c) The Minute Book, other property and records of the Club to be in the custody of the Secretary.

(d) The trophies may be lent to any member who had won them for such a period as the Committee may allow, on giving such security for their safe custody and return, as the Committee may deem necessary. (At present the trophies will not be lent out).

(e) In the event of the Club becoming merged in or amalgamate with, any other Bulldog Club either now in existence or to be formed in the future, it is optional with the donor of any trophy to require the return of the trophy.

Rule 8

Club Accounts

(a) A banking account will be held in the name of the Club into which all revenue of the Club shall be paid and from which withdrawal shall only be made on the signatures of two of the Officers of the Club, namely the Secretary, Treasurer, President or Chairperson

(b) The accounts will be certified annually and presented to the A.G.M.

(c) The accounts book of the Club as shown in the Annual Balance Sheet shall be made good in equal shares by all persons who are members of the Club at the date thereof, or who were members on the 1st of January preceding the date thereof.

Rule 9

Subscriptions

(a) The amount of subscription shall be such an amount as agreed by the members at a General Meeting and notified to the Kennel Club.

(b) No member whose subscription is unpaid is entitled to the privileges or membership and if the member shall fail to pay the outstanding subscription by the 30th June of that year, his or her name shall automatically be erased from the register. Acceptance back onto the register will be dependent upon a new application and payment of arrears,

Rule 10

Expulsion of a member

Any member who shall be suspended under the Kennel Club Rule A42j(4) and/or disqualified under the Kennel Club Rule A421(8) shall ‘ipso facto’ cease to be a member of the Club for the duration of the suspension or disqualification. If the conduct of any member shall, in the opinion of the Committee of the club be injurious, or likely to be injurious to the character or interests of the Club, the Committee of the Club may at a meeting (the motion convening which includes as an objective the consideration of the conduct of the member) determine that a Special General Meeting of the Club be called for the purpose of passing a resolution to expel him or her.

Notice of the S.G.M. shall be sent to the accused member, giving particulars of the complaint and advising the place, date and hour of the meeting in order that he/she may attend and offer an explanation.

If, at the meeting a resolution is passed to expel, by a two-thirds majority of the members present and voting, his or her name shall immediately be erased from the list of members.

They will cease to be a member of the Club subject to the right of appeal to the Kennel Club within two calendar months of such a meeting.

The decision of the Kennel Club shall be final.

Rule 11

Financial year/General Meetings

(a) The financial year shall run from January 1st to December 31st .

(b) The Annual General Meeting to be held as early as possible each year to receive the Secretary’s report, the Treasurer’s balance sheet and the statement of accounts. To transact any other business of which the Secretary has had TEN days notice.

(c) Other General Meetings of the members may be held from time to time as the Secretary, President, Chairperson or Committee deem necessary.

(d) At a General Meeting TWELVE members voting shall be a quorum.

(e) At a General Meeting business not on the Agenda may only be transacted by the consent of the majority of the members present providing not less than twelve are present.

(f) At a General Meeting the Chair will be taken by the Chairperson or, if absent, by the Vice Chairperson, if absent, by the President or senior Vice President, In the event of all of these being absent the meeting will elect its own Chairperson.

(g) The General Meeting shall be held at such a place as the Secretary deems most convenient.

(h) At least 14 days notice (or longer as required by the Kennel Club) will be given to the members by announcement in Our Dogs and Dog World and/or electronic communication.

When notifying members of the AGM, which should take place as early in the year as possible, the Secretary should include:

1. A separate list of all the Officers and Members of the Committee. (On the above lists it should be brought to the attention of members that all the Officers are eligible for re-election and that the Committee members that are retiring are also eligible for re-election.) The above list must be clearly marked as to which Committee Member is retiring under rule 3(a).

2. Nomination forms to be sent out with the notification of the AGM. Such forms to be countersigned by the nominee, to be returned to the Honorary Secretary and the names to be placed on the Agenda for the AGM.

Rule 12

A Special General Meeting

(a) A Special General Meeting will be summoned by the Secretary if 10 (ten) members send a signed request stating the subject to be discussed and requesting a S.G.M. to do so. If the Special Meeting is called to wind up the Club or dispose of its trophies this may only be called if the signed request is signed by 40 (forty) members of the Club.

(b) No business other than that detailed on the agenda may be discussed.

(c) Such a meeting to be held within 21 days of the receipt of the request.

(d) |t least 14 days notice of the time and place of such a meting and the subject to be discussed shall be sent by post to every member,

(e) Ten members will form a quorum.

(f) The meeting to be conducted as a General Meeting.

Rule 13

Amendments to Rules

Any proposed alteration in the rules may not be brought into effect until the Kennel Club has been advised and approved the alterations.
